Jan Squires

Biography

Dr. Jan Squires is Executive Professor and MBA Director at Capital University. He teaches the MBA Foundations core course and MBA electives, including Cases in Financial Management. He also provides administrative support for the MBA Program, advises and mentors MBA students on career and academic issues, and participates in MBA student recruiting and interviewing processes. Prior to joining Capital, Dr. Squires spent 16 years in various senior leadership positions at CFA Institute, most recently as Managing Director for Strategic Products and Technology where he led a 175-person team located in the US, London, and Hong Kong. He also served as Managing Director for Asia Pacific Operations during a three-year expatriate assignment in Hong Kong, and as Head of Examination Development for the CFA Program.  Dr. Squires’ academic career spanned nearly 25 years, culminating as Professor of Finance at Missouri State University. While at MSU, Dr. Squires was named a University Fellow in Teaching and received a University Award for Teaching. He was elected to the Faculty Senate and served on numerous college and university committees. He was also elected to the Board of Directors of the Midwest Finance Association and published in numerous journals including the Journal of Economics and Finance, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, and Journal of Financial Education. He co-authored book chapters in Managing Investment Portfolios (3rd) and International Investments (5th) and wrote numerous papers and articles for professional conferences and trade publications. Dr. Squires earned his D.B.A. with a specialization in finance from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. He also earned M.B.A. and B.S.B.A degrees from the Harmon College at the University of Central Missouri and an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from the Sloan School at MIT. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from CFA Institute and is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Sigma Pi fraternities.
