Biography
Adam is a PhD student in the Department of Semitic and Egyptian Languages and Literatures, where he focuses on Arabic, Syriac, and Classical Ethiopic literature in the Christian Near East program. He received his B.A. in International Relations/Arabic at Michigan State University in 2012, with a specialization in both Muslim Studies and Jewish Studies. He received his M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago in 2015, where he focused on Semitic languages and literature, and wrote a thesis entitled "Middle Arabic of the Chalcedonians and Theories of Language Diversification." His research interests include Comparative Semitics, sociolinguistics, language contact, and language change.
