Biography

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Drews, M.D., Ph.D. has been the Managing Partner of Health Innoventure Fund LLC of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. since January 2001. Prof. Dr. Drews serves as the Managing Partner of Bear Stearns Health Innoventures, L.P. He co-founded International Biomedicine Management Partners, Inc. and served as its Partner from October 1997 to 2001. He served as the Managing Partner of Bear Stearns Health Innoventures Management, L.L.C from 2001 to September 2004. He has 40 years of experience in clinical and academic medicine and the pharmaceuticals industry. He served as an Head of International Pharmaceutical Research and Development for Sandoz Ltd., from January 1982 to July 1985. He was a Partner of BIOMEDICINE. From March 1998 to December 2000, Prof. Dr. Drews served as a contributing advisor to OrbiMed Advisors LLC. He served as the President, Global Research of the Roche Group from January 1996 to December 1997. From January 1991 to December 1995, he served as the President of International Research and Development for the Roche Group from 1991 to 1996. From 1986 to 1997, he served as the President of Global Research and Development at Hoffman-La Roche. From 1970 to 1978, he was Head of Microbiology at the Sandoz Research Institute in Vienna. He served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Agennix AG (also known as GPC Biotech AG) since 2001. He serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Axxima Pharmaceuticals. He serves as the Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board of Warren Pharmaceuticals Inc. He served as Chairman at International Biomedicine Management Partners, Inc. from October 1997 to 2001. He served as the Chairman of EuropaBio, the European Association for Bioindustries. until 1998. Prof. Dr. Drews served as the Chairman of Cogenics, Inc. (alternate name Genaissance Pharmaceuticals Inc.) since August 1999. He served as the Chairman of the Research Board for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. from April 1986 to December 1990. Prof. Dr. Drews served as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MorphoSys AG until May 31, 2012. He serves as a Director of Rockville, TeGenero Wrzburg, Exelixis Pharmaceuticals, MorphoSys GmbH, Genomics Pharmaceutical Company and Mountain View, CA. Dr. Drews served as a Director of Human Genome Sciences Inc. from 1998 to May 11, 2011. Dr. Drews served as Member of the Supervisory Board of MorphoSys AG from 1998 to May 31, 2012. He served as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Agennix AG from 1998 to March 2011. He served as a Director of Cogenics, Inc. since 1998. He served as a Director of Coelacanth Chemical Corporation. He served as a Director of PDL BioPharma, Inc. (formerly Protein Design Labs Inc.) from February 1997 to June 2004. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of BIOMEDICINE. He is the author of the 1999 book In Quest of Tomorrow's Medicines. Prof. Dr. Drews holds M.D. in Internal Medicine from the Free University of Heidelberg, Berlin and carried out postdoctoral work at the University of Frankfurt and Yale University.
