Biography

 Tom McCoy is the Executive Vice President, Legal for CH2M, based in Denver, Colorado, and Washington, D.C. Tom specializes in counseling senior executives and boards of directors in legal strategies for sophisticated business opportunities and challenges. With over 35 years of experience as a lawyer and leader, Tom most recently served as a partner in the global law firm of O’Melveny & Myers in its Washington, D.C. and Silicon Valley offices. Tom’s focus was strategic counseling in high-profile transactional, litigation and regulatory matters. He also has experience as a business trial lawyer specializing in antitrust, securities and intellectual property litigation. For 16 years prior to O’Melveny & Myers, Tom was an executive with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), a Fortune 500, Silicon Valley-based semiconductor company. During this time, he served as a Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary; Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs and Chief Administrative Officer; and Executive Vice President, Legal, Corporate and Public Affairs. Tom led their Law Department; Business Development and Strategy; Human Resources; Public Relations; International Policy, Government Relations and Community Affairs; Employee Culture and Communications; Global Services (facilities; environmental, health and safety, etc.); Information Technology (including acting CIO); and was the founding chair, AMD Foundation. Education/Certification Tom has a law degree from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University.   Professional Affiliations Tom is a frequent speaker on the ethical principles of leadership and building high-performance, high-trust organizations. He is a five-time attendee and speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He has addressed the Commissioners of the European Commission and the Economic Ministers of the Member States on the Competitiveness of Europe in Technology. Tom is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Markula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, and a current member of the Board of Directors for the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia.
