Robert J. Massie

Biography

 Mr. Robert J. Massie, also known as Bob, serves as Secretary at TechColumbus, Inc. Mr. Massie has been the President of Chemical Abstracts Service, an operating division of the American Chemical Society since 1992 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Chemical Abstracts Service in 1992, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Gale Research, a library reference publisher and subsidiary of the Thomson publishing organization. He also held senior executive positions with the Torstar Corporation, the largest newspaper and book publishing company in Canada. Mr. Massie served as Management Consultant with McKinsey and Co. He serves as a Director of Simbionix USA Corporation and TechColumbus, Inc. He has been a Director of Chemical Abstracts Service since 1992. He served as a Director of MindLeaders, Inc. since September 1999. He served as a Director of OneSource Information Services Inc. since October 2002. Mr. Massie has served on boards of a number of for-profit companies, including MindLeaders. He serves as a member of several community Boards of Directors including the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, and The Columbus Partnership, a civic development collaborate comprising Columbus-area Chief Executive Officers. He practiced law with the Washington D.C. firm of Covington and Burling. He holds a joint JD/ MBA degree from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. Mr. Massie is also an honors graduate of Yale College.
