Biography
Joe W. Laymon, 64, is vice president of Human Resources and Corporate Services for Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2008. He is responsible for human resources, security, aviation, and business and real estate services. Previously Laymon served as group vice president of Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs for Ford Motor Company from 2000 to 2008 and was responsible for global human resources, labor relations, medical, security and aviation. Prior to joining Ford, Laymon worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with assignments in Zaire and Washington, D.C. Previous to USAID he held several senior human resources positions at Eastman Kodak Company and held numerous HR and Labor leadership positions during a 16-year career at Xerox. Laymon serves on the board of directors of Peabody Energy, BoardRoomIQ.com and the United Way of the Bay Area. He also serves on the board of trustees of Clark Atlanta University. Laymon is a member of the Human Resources Network in the Petroleum Industry, the HR Policy Association and the National Association of Corporate Directors and a former board of director at Molex and DTE Energy, two publicly held companies. Laymon joined Chevron in 2008 in the position currently held. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Jackson State University in 1975 and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1977.
