Biography
As a CHG Senior Training and Development Specialist, Jared Southard has the enviable job of helping new leaders develop, of all things, leadership skills. He quickly caught on to the company’s offbeat humor and after three years as a trainer, Jared has considerable skill. When leaders ask him to jump, Jared likes to ask “Why?” Jared’s first childhood dream was to build Legos for kids in Africa; then he wanted to be a teacher; then to be rich; and then a teacher…again. Considering all the games they play during training—some with blocks, all the money he makes (yes, that’s a relative term), and all the teaching he does, you could argue that Jared has fulfilled all of his dreams in one career. Beyond making all his dreams come true, his job at CHG appeals to Jared for other reasons, among them the fact that he trusts, respects and likes his team and leaders, especially when they feed him. In his free time, Jared loves to read nonfiction religious texts and eighteenth-century naval warfare “à laMaster and Commanderand the Horatio Hornblower series,” and exercise. Sculpting and glassblowing top the list of things Jared would like to learn one day.
