Biography
Ms. Lisa M. Caputo has been an Executive Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience The Travelers Companies, Inc. since December 15, 2016. Ms. Caputo served as Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at The Travelers Companies, Inc. until December 15, 2016. Ms. Caputo served as the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and Executive Vice President at The Travelers Companies, Inc. Ms. Caputo served as an Executive Vice President of Marketing & Communications at The Travelers Companies Inc. since June 2011. She joined Travelers from Citigroup, where she served as Managing Director and Senior Banker of the Public Sector Group of Citi's Institutional Clients Group. She served as Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Citigroup and was responsible for the integrated marketing function and positioning strategy. She served as the Chief Marketing Officer of Citigroup Inc. since 2007 and served as its Executive Vice President. She oversaw the marketing, advertising, branding, consumer insights, media, sponsorships, direct marketing and community relations operations for all of Citi's consumer businesses. Ms. Caputo managed Citigroup's-wide initiative on the corporate brand as well as the production of Citi's corporate brand advertising campaign. She started Women and Company when she first joined Citi. Ms. Caputo served as Chief Executive Officer of Women & Co., a division of Citigroup Inc., since January 2000. She served as the President of Women and Company since January 2000. She served as the Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer of Global Consumer Group at Citigroup Inc. from October 2005 to 2007. She served as Senior Managing Director of Business Operations and Planning, Global Consumer Group and Chief of Staff to the Chief Executive Officer at Citigroup and oversaw community relations, public affairs, internal communications, executive communications and the Office of Financial Education for the Global Consumer Group. She served as Managing Director, Business Operations and Planning, Global Retail Banking since 2003 and serves at Global Consumer Group to develop and implement strategies to expand the business and to coordinate activities both within the Global Consumer Group as well as other Citigroup businesses. Ms. Caputo also spent over a decade in the public sector. She ran Al Gore's media operations at the 1992 Democratic National Convention. Ms. Caputo served as Vice President of Global Communications and Synergy of Disney Publishing Worldwide from 1998 to 1999. She oversaw communications, publicity and cross promotions and spearheaded the coordination of the group's marketing and advertising efforts to ensure its brands were promoted with consistency. She joined Disney Publishing Worldwide, a publishing subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company, after serving as Vice President of Corporate Communications for the CBS Corporation from 1996 to 1998. At Disney, she oversaw marketing, communications, publicity and cross promotions for Disney Publishing Worldwide, Disney's global publishing subsidiary. At CBS, she helped oversee a department, which handled issues relating to CBS management, business operations and program publicity and she was responsible for media relations, program publicity, executive communications and public affairs across the CBS. She was also responsible for media relations, special projects and public affairs objectives in all aspects of CBS and managed the CBS/TIME millennium symposium project, which resulted in the production of a series of nationally broadcast television shows. Ms. Caputo does television commentary and public speaking on current events and politics. Ms. Caputo serves as Director of The Creative Coalition. She has been an Independent Director of Best Buy Co., Inc. since December 14, 2009. She served as an NBC and MSNBC political analyst for the 2000 election cycle. She served as Contributing Editor to George magazine from 1997 to 2000 and as a Co-Host of CNN's "Crossfire" and of CNBC and MSNBC's "Equal Time". She served as Press Secretary to Hillary Rodham Clinton for four years. She served as Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States and Press Secretary to the First Lady in the White House from 1993 to 1996. She served as Press Secretary to Mrs. Clinton during the Presidential Transition as well as during the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign. She served as the Director of the Vice Presidential Media Operations for the 1992 Democratic National Convention. She served as the Press Secretary to Senator Tim Wirth (D., Colo.) from 1989 to 1992. She served as the National Issues Press Secretary for the 1988 Dukakis-Bentsen campaign and as Press Secretary and Federal Grants Coordinator to Representative Bob Traxler (D., Mich.) for two years. She also assisted the successful campaigns of Senator Harris Wofford (D., Penn.) in 1991 and Representative Jolene Unsoeld (D., Wash.) in 1990. Ms. Caputo is involved in a number of philanthropic activities. She served as Vice President of Development of the New York Women in Communications Board of Directors from 1999 to 2000. She served as the Chairman of Women & Co., a division of Citigroup Inc. since January 2000. She serves as board member of the following organizations: The National Partnership for Women and Families, The Creative Coalition Inc., New Visions for Public Schools, Harvard University's Women's Leadership Board, The Brown University Sports Foundation and The Center for Women's Business Research Advisory Council. She serves as Board Member of WNET Channel 13 and The Sesame Workshop. Ms. Caputo served as Member of the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organization's Board of Directors from 1997 to 2000, on the board of The New York Women in Communications Foundation from 2001 to 2003 and has served on the Wyoming Seminary President Council and the Kemper Open Advisory Board. She is also member of The Council on Foreign Relations and The Financial Women's Association. She served as member of Citi's Management Committee and the Global Consumer Group Planning Group. Ms. Caputo is the recipient of the Girls Scouts of Greater New York Leadership Award, the Feminist Press Crossing Borders Award, the Women's Information Network Young Women of Achievement Award, Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism's Hall of Achievement Award and the National Organization of Italian American Women Outstanding Achievement Award. In 2000, Ms. Caputo was named by Crain's New York Business as one of the six New York women who are emerging as influential. In 2002, she was named by Earth Times as one of the 100 most influential women in New York and by The New York Resident as one of Manhattan's top 50 business leaders.
