Steve Rector

Biography

Steve Rector is the Chief Financial Officer and Secretary/Treasurer of Cowles Company, a family-owned, Spokane-based firm engaged in print and electronic media, television broadcasting, newsprint manufacturing, forestry, insurance sales, real estate development and “start-up” investments. He holds a BA in Accounting from Whitworth University. Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the boards of etailz, Inc., CloudEngage, Ag Energy Solutions, Inc. and 3D-4U, Inc. He is a board member and current president of the Rypien Foundation. He has also served on the board of the Whitworth Foundation and the Spokane Teachers Credit Union Supervisory Committee. He is a trustee of the Harriet Cheney Cowles Foundation and the William H. Cowles Foundation; company-supported foundations that support capital projects for civic and educational advancement primarily in the Spokane region. Prior to joining Cowles Company in 1989, Steve was a Certified Public Accountant for Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers or PwC). Cowles Company subsidiaries include Cowles Publishing Company – publisher of The Spokesman-Review, Inland Empire Paper Company, KHQ-TV (NBC affiliate stations in Spokane, the Tri-Cities and Yakima and various ABC and Fox affiliates throughout Montana, Centennial Properties, Inc., River Park Square and Northwest Farmer-Stockman insurance.
