Biography

Dr. Tong is currently an associate professor of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University. In 2002, he earned his Ph.D. from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Science. After that, Dr. Tong worked at as researcher, JSPS fellow, and postdoc scholar for about 6 years in Japan and USA at the academic institutions of Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, University of Cincinnati, and California Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Clemson in 2016, Dr. Tong has been working as a research associate professor at the Colorado School of Mines for more than 7 years.

Research Interest

Dr. Tong’s research interests focus on Advanced Solid State Ionic Materials and Devices for efficient, clean, and sustainable energy conversion/storage/harvest.
