Biography

"Dr. McIntyre is a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences and a member of the Graduate Faculty. She also serves the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program as the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), a role she has held since 2011. Her primary areas of teaching in the DPT program include clinical education and professional issues. Dr. McIntyre is credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) at the Basic and Advanced Levels. In February 2013, she was selected as a Credentialed Trainer for the Basic CCIP Program, and has subsequently taught the program to local clinical instructors on three occasions. In addition, Dr. McIntyre has spoken on several topics in clinical education including the Collaborative Model, Questioning Techniques, Effective Student Evaluation Using PT CPI Web, and Management of Performance Issues in Clinical Education. Dr. McIntyre's primary clinical expertise includes the evaluation and treatment of individuals across the lifespan in the acute care hospital environment (including the adult and pediatric intensive care units and the neonatal ICU). She has also spent some time in outpatient working with pediatric and adult clients. Dr. McIntyre currently practices on a per diem basis at St. John Medical Center and spent 8 years at the Cleveland Clinic prior to coming to CSU. As an active member of the APTA, Dr. McIntyre belongs to the Education, Acute Care, and Health Policy & Administration Sections, as well as to the Clinical Education and Global Health Special Interest Groups. With a passion for helping the medically underserved, Dr. McIntyre has traveled to Jamaica, Peru, and Belize providing pro bono physical therapy services In underrepresented areas. Her research interests are focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning, health disparities, and acute care physical therapy practice."
