Biography

"CRAIG FOLTIN is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University. He has presented at many professional meetings and has published 28 papers in some of America's top accounting journals, most recently in Research in Accounting Regulation, CPA Journal, and Strategic Financial Management. He also serves as an editorial reviewer for CPA Journal. He has also acted performed as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Montana. Dr. Foltin has won numerous awards. In 2011 and 2014, Dr. Foltin was honored with the President's Award at Cuyahoga Community College, the top honor presented to a current College employee. He was awarded the Humanitarian Award by the Black American Council in 2014. He was named Crain's Cleveland Business CFO of the Year in 2009 and received the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year from the Beta Alpha Psi chapter of Cleveland State University that same year. In 2006, he won the Author's award for the Outstanding Article of the Year as The Most Significant Contribution to the Literature of the Profession, from the Association of Government Accountants. Dr. Foltin assumed the position of Provost and Executive Vice President at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in December 2014. As Tri-C's Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Foltin was responsible for advancing, administering and leading all academic departments and activities, four campus operations, 419 full-time faculty members, 700 full-time staff and over 2,000 part-time faculty and staff. Prior to serving as Provost, Dr. Foltin served as the Executive Vice President of Administration and Finance and Treasurer for Tri-C, Ohio's largest community college. As the College's Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Foltin reorganized the College's financial reporting processes. A two-term elected Mayor of the City of Lorain, Ohio, from 2000-2007, Dr. Foltin was responsible for administering the City's $80 million budget. Prior to becoming Mayor, Dr. Foltin engaged in public service as the elected city auditor of Lorain, Ohio and as an assistant in the Ohio Auditor of State's office. A lifelong Northeast Ohio resident, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Ohio State University before earning his MBA and Doctor of Business Administration from Cleveland State University. Dr. Foltin is a CPA and a Certified Government Financial Manager. He resides in Lorain with his wife, Karen and their daughters Lena and Eleanor."
