Biography

"Dr. Michael Polomsky holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, specializing in advanced statistical analysis, development and validation of large-scale surveys, and forecasting. Dr. Polomsky has been affiliated with Cleveland State University since 1991, teaching undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral courses in the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSM). He was the recipient of the 2005 Nance College of Business Outstanding Professor Award, as well as twice receiving a Golden Apple Award (2014 and 2017) from the Alumni Association for outstanding contributions to the lives of Cleveland State University students. In addition to teaching, Dr. Polomsky has consulted in virtually every aspect of human resource management and organizational behavior for over 125 public and private sector organizations. He has developed and administered human resource programs at all organizational levels for executive, professional, managerial, technical, clerical, computer, sales, as well as police and fire professions. The scope of these projects include job classification, job evaluation, development of compensation plans, job analysis, personnel selection, performance appraisal, organizational survey development and administration, training, organizational development, corporate management (i.e., ""glass ceiling"") reviews, maintenance of HRIS database systems, and litigation support. Dr. Polomsky has been retained as an expert witness in more than 30 court cases, providing expert witness testimony and litigation support in court cases typically dealing with issues of alleged age, race or gender discrimination in selection, promotion, termination or compensation. Further, his work in quantitative methodology has led to the development of a set of statistical procedures for assessing bias and/or discrimination in selection, promotion, and lending practices. Prior to attaining the Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Dr. Polomsky had more than fourteen years of senior corporate management experience in a variety of private sector organizations.
