Biography
Paul H. Klingenstein has served as a member of our board of directors since our inception. He is the Managing Partner of Aberdare Ventures, a healthcare-focused venture capital firm he formed in 1999. Prior to founding Aberdare, Mr. Klingenstein worked in venture capital and private equity with Warburg Pincus and Accel Partners, and was an advisor to the Rockefeller Foundation. Mr. Klingenstein currently serves on the boards of several private companies. Mr. Klingenstein has previously served on the boards of Anacor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANAC), Aviron Inc., Conatus Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: CNAT), EnteroMedics Inc. (NASDAQ: ETRM), Glycomed Inc., Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., now Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: IONS), Pharmion Corporation, Viagene Inc., and Xomed Surgical Products Inc. He is currently a board member of MacArthur Foundation and the London School of Hygience and Tropical Medicine. He has also served on the boards of various educational and non-profit institutions. Mr. Klingenstein received an A.B. in anthropology from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
