Mr. Christopher M. Smith

Biography

Mr. Christopher M. Smith, also known as Chris, has been the President of Cochlear Americas Corporation since August 2004. Mr. Smith served as Group President of Gyrus Group Plc from August 2000 to October 2003. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Gyrus North American Sales. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Operations at Gyrus Medical Ltd. Mr. Smith has 18 years of management experience in the health care industry. Mr. Smith is a highly experienced US-based executive with 25 years in the medical device industry. Mr. Smith worked in management and leadership roles in a number of medical device and healthcare companies, where he was responsible for creating and implementing strategies to commercialise medical technologies, new product development, extracting manufacturing efficiencies and margin improvement. Mr. Smith has many years of leadership and sales experience in the medical devices sector. He served as a Consultant of Warburg Pincus LLC from October 2003 to August 2004. Mr. Smith served positions with Prism Enterprises, Midmark Corporation, Comprehensive Reimbursement Consultants and American Health Sciences. He served as a Director of XTENT, Inc. since June 2008 and of Acclarent Inc., since November 2004. He served as a Director of StarTek, Inc. from June 2010 to November 17, 2011. He served as a Director of Universal Biosensors Inc. from August 27, 2013 to August 30, 2015. He served as a Director of Gyrus Group PLC. He served as a Director of Gyrus Medical Inc. Mr. Smith holds a BS in Journalism and Marketing from Texas A&M University.
