Patrick Yang

Biography

  Dr. Patrick Y. Yang has served as a director of Codexis since February 2014. Dr. Yang brings to our board of directors significant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, product and process development, and senior leadership experience. From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Yang served as Global Head of Technical Operations for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., where he was responsible for Roche's pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing operations, process development, quality, regulatory, and supply management functions. Before joining Roche upon its acquisition of Genentech, Dr. Yang worked as Genentech’s Executive Vice President of Product Operations, and a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. Dr. Yang also previously worked for Merck & Co., where he held several leadership roles including Vice President of Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Operations and Vice President of Supply Chain Management. He also worked at General Electric Co. and Life Systems, Inc. in various research, development, engineering and manufacturing roles. Dr. Yang currently serves on the board of directors of Tesoro Corporation, an independent refining and marketing company, and where he serves on the governance committee and audit committee. He also currently serves on the board of directors of PharmaEssentia Corporation, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, and Amyris, Inc., a synthetic biology company. Dr. Yang previously served on the board of TaiMed, Inc. and Celladon Corporation, both were clinical-stage biotech companies. Dr. Yang earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the National Chiaotung University in Taiwan, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D. in engineering from the Ohio State University.
