Jack Calvert 

Biography

Jack Calvert is one of Cogent Professionals’ longest-running employees, and he acts as a walking knowledge base for many of the younger employees. He is a jack-of-all-trades, working in several labs and performing dozens of different tests through his career. His advice is sought on matters ranging from lab techniques to retirement planning to computer troubleshooting. If he doesn’t know an answer, he knows how to find it.He serves a dual role within the company. First, as an analytical chemist, he works in the quantitative biology lab. In this capacity he has distinguished himself for his ability to streamline existing methods and develop new ones to support Lilly’s biologists. He is proficient with most forms of HPLC and Mass Spec, having worked with Waters, Shimadzu, Agilent, and AB Sciex instrumentation. An efficiency expert, he always seeks the simplest and most straightforward way to answer a problem, and this has led to great increases in testing speed and throughput. His colleagues have benefited greatly from his ability to cut to the heart of the problem and see the bigger picture.
