Herman E. Scholtz

Biography

    Dr. Herman Scholtz is Vice President and General Manager, Early Clinical Services and has served in this capacity since September 2010. In this role, he has responsibility for providing executive leadership for operational activities for Clinical Pharmacology Services, Early Clinical Development, Early Clinical Biometrics and Early Phase Development Solutions.  He also serves as a member of the Global Operating Committee. Dr. Scholtz joined Covance in November 2009 as Vice President and General Manager, Clinical Pharmacology Services. He has over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including global responsibility for multiple clinical and life science organizations.  Prior to joining Covance, Dr. Scholtz held several senior management positions over a 15-year career with Parexel International.  The company recognized Dr. Scholtz in 2011 with the Torch of Strength Award and then in 2014 with a Client Leadership Award.  During his tenure in Early Clinical Services,, the business unit earned the company’s Award of Excellence in 2011, 2013 and 2014. He is also a member of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Dr. Scholtz qualified as a physician at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and specialized in Anesthesiology at the University of The Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. He currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
