Biography
As of September 1, 2016, Gwen Gaston was appointed the new Dean of Nursing at Dallas Nursing Institute. Gwen oversees all academic programs offered by the institution. Ms. Gaston holds a diploma in nursing from Kings County School of Nursing (Brooklyn College of CUNY), Master of Science and Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, Southfield, MI, and she is currently working toward her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. Prior to becoming Dean, she had been the Interim Dean of Nursing and Director of Nursing for the Associate Degree of Nursing Program. She began her affiliation with the Dallas Nursing Institute in December 2007, serving initially as an instructor and then as Assistant Director of Nursing Laboratories. She was appointed as the Associate Degree of Nursing Program Director in December 2010, with responsibility for administering the program, supervising faculty, and fostering community relations to ensure quality clinical experiences for the student nurses. She is a registered nurse. She has many years of experience as a charge nurse, intensive care staff nurse, manager and senior director of ambulatory clinical services, interim director of urgent care, and as a nurse educator.
