Biography

 Dr. Timothy Day, also known as Tim, Ph.D, serves as Vice President and General Manager of Daylight Solutions at DRS Technologies, Inc. Dr. Day served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Daylight Solutions, Inc. from May 26, 2017 to June 3, 2017. He Founded New Focus, Inc. in July 1990. Dr. Day served as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President at New Focus Inc., where he developed numerous photonics products and was instrumental in growing the business to over $20M/year in revenue, as a private company, selling into photonics research markets. He developed an extensive patent and product portfolio and helped transition it for a successful public offering in May 2000. He contributed to the raising of over $500M through private equity offerings and 2 public offerings. He has extensive technical knowledge and experience and is considered an expert in the field of photonics. He served as Chairman and Director of Daylight Solutions Inc since May 26, 2017 until June 3, 2017. Dr. Day is a Member of IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, Optical Society of America and the Society of Photo-Instrumentation Engineers. Dr. Day received both a B.S. and an M.S. in Physics from San Diego State University and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
