Biography
Dr. Jennifer DeFrancesco currently serves as the Acting Associate Director for the Dayton VA Medical Center. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the Chief Biomedical Engineer for the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 serving Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Her duties included coordinating biomedical engineering and healthcare technology management initiatives across the VISN. Her VA career has included assignments as the Chief of Biomedical Engineering at the Indianapolis VAMC, VISN 11 Lead Biomedical Engineer, Chief of Biomedical Engineering at the Richmond VAMC and a prior detail to the Office of Healthcare Technology Management (10NA9). In these assignments, she worked to partner with Informatics, OHRM and Contracting to develop streamlined processes to improve field efficiency. Jennifer is a Certified Clinical Engineering and Certified Healthcare Technology Manager who completed her Doctorate in Health Administration in 2016 and has a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. She is a graduate of the 2015 VHA Healthcare Leadership Development Program (HCLDP), a Certified Mentor and served as the United States representative to the 2016-2017 World Health Organization/ Pan American Health Organization’s Leaders in International Health Program. Dr. DeFrancesco mentors individuals in a wide range of VHA programs and in her role as the co-chair for the biomedical engineering recruitment and retention group.
