Biography
Dr. Chermaine Stewart is a faculty member of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine. Prior to joining the UW-Madison faculty, she was a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, a member and fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association, and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease. She is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Stewart participated in the National Women's Leadership Forum of the American Council of Education and completed training at Harvard School of Public Health in Leadership Development for Physicians in Academic Health Centers. Her work in medical education has included mentoring medical students, MD/PhD students, internal medicine residents, and gastroenterology and hepatology fellows, as well as didactic teaching in a broad range of hepatology and transplant hepatology topics. Dr. Stewart has been board-certified in hepatology, gastroenterology, and internal medicine.
Research Interest
Dr. Stewart's medical interests include internal medicine, hepatology (including treatment and management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic liver disease, and hepatitis C) and transplant hepatology.
