Biography
Dr Patrick Hughes is a clinical cardiologist who joined the faculty at UW in January 2008. Previously he had been in private practice in Northern Wisconsin for 20 years in Wausau and Eau Claire. Aside from time with his family his chief delights in life include patient care and working with people in training. Areas of clinical interest include valvular heart disease, heart failure, sleep apnea, adult congenital heart disease, physical diagnosis and acute coronary syndromes. He received his MD from Loyola University of Chicago, Internal Medicine residency at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and Cardiology fellowship at Loyola. Board certifications include Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology (although he is no longer active in the cardiac catheterization laboratory). He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He sees patients in Madison and Watertown. Hobbies include chainsaw art.
