Biography

 Dr. Krakowski serves as the Chief Medical Officer of DermOne. He is a board-certified dermatologist and subspecialty board-certified pediatric dermatologist with a clinical research focus on the application of lasers and photomedicine in children. Dr. Krakowski earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. He trained in dermatology at the University of California, San Diego, and served as chief resident in his final year. He completed additional specialty training as a two-year research fellow and as a one-year clinical fellow in pediatric dermatology at Rady’s Children’s Hospital-San Diego, where he served as a practicing physician, a full-time assistant professor and the founding director of medical innovation. Dr. Krakowski is a nationally renowned laser expert with over 50 peer-reviewed publications including expert recommendations on the treatment of preadolescent acne and two groundbreaking articles on scar revision and wound healing in epidermolysis bullosa. As an appointed member of the National Pediatric Acne Guidelines Initiative, Dr. Krakowski helped produce the first detailed, evidence-based clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric acne, which were endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and published in Pediatrics in May 2013. He is also co-editor of the first definitive textbook on scar formation, revision, mitigation and prevention, scheduled to be published in 2016. Dr. Krakowski regularly serves as an invited lecturer and course director at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is the pediatric dermatology editor for Practical Dermatology, “Spot the Rash,” in Infectious Diseases in Children and for the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology. He also founded the Society for Pediatric Dermatology’s “Patient Perspectives” initiative, a monthly feature in the peer-reviewed journal Pediatric Dermatology. The American Academy of Dermatology has awarded Dr. Krakowski a Gold Triangle for public health service to the dermatologic community and, in 2013, he received the first U.S. Dermatologist from the Heart award from LaRoche-Posay for his work with scar patients.
