Richardson Dilworth

Biography

Richardson Dilworth is Professor of Politics, Interim Head of the Department of Politics, and Director of the Center for Public Policy at Drexel University. His research and teaching focuses on American urban political development, urban environmental policy, and community economic development. He is the author or coauthor of numerous essays and articles, author of the book, The Urban Origins of Suburban Autonomy (2005), and the editor or coeditor of seven books, one of the more recent being, with Christine Palus, The CQ Press Guide to Urban Politics and Policy in the United States(2016). Besides Drexel, he has taught at Johns Hopkins University, Temple University, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Wagner College, the University of Tirana in Albania, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Dilworth has held visiting positions at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and he served on the Philadelphia Historical Commission for eight years. He received his BS in economics from New York University, and his PhD in political science from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in South Philadelphia with his wife, daughter, and son.
