Lloyd M. Yates

Biography

 Mr. Lloyd M. Yates has been an Executive Vice President of Customer & Delivery Operations at Duke Energy Corporation and Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC since September 2016. Mr. Yates has been President of Carolinas Region at Duke Energy Corporation and Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC since August 1, 2014 and served as its Executive Vice President of Market Solutions since August 1, 2014 until September 2016. He is responsible for aligning customer-focused products and services to deliver a personalized end-to-end customer experience that positions Duke Energy for long-term growth. In addition, he has responsibility for the profit/loss, strategic direction and performance of the company’s regulated utilities in North Carolina and South Carolina. He has been an Executive Vice President of Market Solutions and President of Carolinas Region at Duke Energy Florida, LLC, Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. He served as Executive Vice President of Market Solutions and President of Carolinas Region Duke Energy Indiana, LLC since August 2014. He serves as an Executive Vice President of Regulated Utilities at Duke Energy Progress, LLC (alternate name, Duke Energy Progress, Inc.). Mr. Yates served as an Executive Vice President of Regulated Utilities at Duke Energy Corporation from December 2012 to August 1, 2014. Mr. Yates served as Executive Vice President of Customer Operations for Duke Energy. He served as the President at Carolina Power & Light Company (alternate name Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc.) since July 1, 2007. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Duke Energy Progress, LLC from July 1, 2007 to June 2012 and Senior Vice President from January 2005 to July 1, 2007. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Carolinas Division at Progress Energy Inc. since July 2007. Mr. Yates oversees all aspects of the Carolinas delivery operations, including distribution and customer service, transmission and products and services. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy business including fossil generation, energy delivery and nuclear generation. He served as the Chief Executive Officer at Carolina Power & Light Company (alternate name Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc.) since July 1, 2007. Mr. Yates served as a Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery of Progress Energy Carolinas Inc. of Florida Power Corp. from January 2005 to July 1, 2007. He was responsible for managing the four regional vice President in the PEC organization. From 2003 to 2005, he served as Vice President of Transmission Operation & Planning at PEC. He served as Vice President, Fossil Generation for PEC from November 1998 to November 2003. Before joining Progress Energy in 1998, he was with PECO Energy, where he served in a number of engineering and management roles over 16 years. He last served as General Manager of Operations in the power operations group at PECO. He serves as a Director of Duke Energy Florida, LLC and Duke Energy Ohio, Inc. He serves as a Director of Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC. Mr. Yates has been an Independent Director at Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. since May 18, 2011 and Progress Energy Carolinas since July 17, 2007. He serves on the boards of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Triangle Urban League and the American Heart Association, as well as the First Tee and High Five organizations. He served as Director of Duke Energy Indiana, LLC. He serves as Director of Duke Energy Progress, LLC since July 17, 2007. He served as a Director of Florida Power Corp. and Progress Energy Inc. Mr. Yates serves on several community-based and industry boards and also serves as the President and Chairman of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies. He attended the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and the Executive Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Yates is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and earned an MBA degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa.
