Biography
Dr. Brickner teaches courses in financial accounting and financial statement auditing. His research has also focused on those areas in addition to accounting education. Among the awards that he has received since coming to EMU include the 2010 Accounting Teaching Excellence Award, presented by the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants; the College of Business’ Service Excellence Award in 2007 (EMU); the Alumni Association’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2005 (EMU); and the College of Business’ Teaching Excellence Award in 2004 (EMU). Dr. Brickner’s research has been published in journals such as Issues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Accountancy, the Journal of Education for Business, and the Journal of Business and Economics Research. He has presented his research at a number of academic conferences and he has served as a paper reviewer, discussant, and moderator for regional conferences of the American Accounting Association. In addition, he has served as a reviewer for several financial accounting textbooks. Dr. Brickner is a Certified Public Accountant, and prior to coming to EMU, he worked as an auditor in the Cleveland office of Ernst & Young.
