Eastern Michigan University
United States of America
Biography
Following military service, Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering were obtained evenings at the Cooper Union in New York City while employed full-time in engineering positions which principally involved the design of mechanical and structural systems in the bulk materials handling, mining and process industries. Left industry to obtain the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Ohio State University. Academic experience includes development of ME department and curricula, ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program, and development of current Mechanical Engineering Technology program. Registered Professional Engineer and a member of several professional organizations. Married and have two children.
Research Interest
Research interest is in the tribological behavior of metallic materials, principally the fretting-wear mode of failure. Teaching interests include: the design and stress analysis of mechanical and structural components with consideration for industrial design and failure analysis; and the senior design capstone program.
