Biography
Dr. Neilsen was a Y-Scholar at Brigham Young University graduating with a BS in Biochemistry, and completing a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology at the University of Utah. He has more than 20 years of diverse research experience in bacterial pathogenesis, human inflammation, intracellular phosphoinositides, drug discovery/assay development, lipid analog development, autoimmune antibodies, and clinical biomarkers for alcohol and tissue damage. As director of R&D, he was responsible for the discovery, development, and release of hundreds of commercial biochemical products. He has taught more than 30 sections of chemistry, biology, anatomy, and biotechnology in 15 years as an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College. Dr. Neilsen is an inventor on 2 issued patents, additional pending applications, author of 12 publications/book chapters, numerous poster and podium presentations, and has received more than three million dollars in grants & contracts from three separate NIH Institutes.
