Biography
Dr. Costes received his Ph.D. in Nuclear engineering from UC Berkeley in 1999. After his postdoctoral fellowship in the Mathematics Department at UC Berkeley, he joined the National Cancer Institute where he developed novel quantitative tools for fluorescence 4D microscopy. Dr. Costes joined the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2004, where he developed under DOE and NASA funding, the novel technology being used by Exogen to assess DNA repair in human cells. He has over 40 peer-reviewed publications on high-throughput fluorescence microscopy, DNA damage quantification, image analysis and computer modeling for radiation risk. Dr. Costes is the Physics council for the Radiation Research Society and was recently awarded the 2014 Visionary Award from the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce for his work at Exogen.
