Danny Sommers

Biography

 Danny Sommers is a Senior Project Manager and Forensic Investigator for Farr West Engineering. Danny has broad based experience in the fields of mechanical, civil and environmental engineering, and is involved in projects at all levels from design to implementation. In addition to overseeing many, large-scale construction, agricultural, and manufacturing projects, his project management background includes extensive involvement with estimating, funding, permitting, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) clearance. Danny routinely works with Federal, State and local entities to ensure that projects are compliant with government requirements. As a result of his experience with high-profile projects, both domestic and foreign, Danny has a distinct understanding of the need for excellent communication and coordination, regardless of project size. Danny applies his understanding of engineering design, construction, and manufacturing to the field of forensic engineering, providing investigative and expert witness services to insurance companies and the legal community. As a result of extensive training and investigative forensic experience, he is able to provide expert services on a wide variety of issues, including structural failures, automobile accident reconstruction, fire and explosion investigations and product defects analysis. Danny earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nevada Reno. He received his training in automobile accident reconstruction at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, and is a certified fire and explosion investigator. Danny is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Northern Nevada Claims Association. Danny loves the outdoors and enjoys the mountains, rivers, lakes, and wildlife of Nevada. He is a Reno native, and he and his wife Robin have enjoyed raising their four children in northern Nevada. Danny is a licensed pyrotechnician, and in his spare time provides pyrotechnic displays for the Reno Aces, Pops on the River, Pro Bull Riding, the Reno Rodeo and other local events.
