Biography
Jason Caster has been in the surveying profession for over 25 years. He started surveying in Las Vegas in 1989, and was a field surveyor for 15 years in Southern Nevada before moving to the Reno area in 2004. Jason honed his field skills in Las Vegas during one of the biggest construction booms in that city’s history, initially working under a cast of grizzled veteran Party Chiefs before taking over his own crew in 1992. Jason moved to the Reno area in 2004 and spent a year in the field at Wood Rodgers, Inc. before being promoted to GPS Manager in 2005. Jason’s duties were expanded to include mapping, topographic drafting, project management, construction calculations, crew scheduling, vehicle and equipment maintenance, business development, union negotiations, and client relations. Jason maintains great relationships with his clients and staff, and it is something that he places a very high value on. He believes it is important to not lose touch with the field staff in particular; valuing their opinion on field procedures and techniques, and ensuring that the field equipment is of high quality and proper safety procedures are practiced. Outside of work, Jason served as a youth baseball coach for 8 years, coaching all 3 of his kids at various stages of their baseball and softball lives. Jason has also been active in the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors, serving as Lahontan Chapter President in 2013, and as a Board Member since 2009. Jason is also active in charity work, having participated in the St. Baldrick’s event since 2011, as well as organizing fundraisers and coat drives through his previous employer and the NALS organization.
