Biography
Joanie Hazelton received her B.S.W. from the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire and received her M.S.W. from Grand Valley State University.
Research Interest
Joanie specialized in the area of children and family services, most specifically child sexual abuse, and has provided individual counseling, family counseling, outreach services and group treatment, as well as facilitated recreational and activity-based treatment. Joanie additionally supervised student interns, coordinated volunteer efforts, facilitated the writing of grants, coordinated fundraising activities and participated in multiple community task-force initiatives including Strong Families Safe Children, the Reduction of Poverty Initiatives, the Family Support Tea, and the Tri-County Coalition for the Prevention of Abuse and Neglect. Joanie has also presented in professional settings on topics such as Child Sexual Abuse and Treatment Considerations and Attachment Disorders and Concerns. Joanie primarily teaches Theories and Methods II, Advanced Interviewing, Field Seminar and is a Field Liaison.
