Biography
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics (Ferris State College, 1982), Scott was accepted into the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) Program, where he spent the next 20 years. During his submarine service, he earned the unique opportunity to train submarine enlisted personnel and officers in the areas of nuclear engineering, operations analysis and submarine warfare. Before leaving the Navy, he received a master’s degree in nuclear engineering (University of Virginia, 2000). Following retirement from the Navy, he joined the Ferris Mathematics Department in the fall of 2003 and the Ferris Marketing Department in fall 2008 as an adjunct faculty member.
Research Interest
Scott teaches a variety of courses ranging from Intermediate Algebra, Calculus, Applied Calculus, Visual Basic Programing, Mathematical Statistics and Business Statistics with a special interest in technical and developmental mathematics.
