Research Interest

Dr. Zhang studies cosmic radiation, energetic particles and their interactions with plasmas and magnetic fields in the solar system and in interstellar space. Specifically, he examines particle acceleration by shock waves, cosmic ray propagation in the interstellar medium, solar modulation of cosmic rays, solar energetic particles, heliospheric structures, particle acceleration in radiation belt of planets, and wave-particle interactions. He has experience in ionization chambers, silicon solid-state detectors and atomic force microscopy.
