Biography

Gershon Tenenbaum, Ph.D., Benjamin S. Bloom Professor of Educational Psychology, is a Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology at Florida State University. He is a former director of the Ribstein Center for Research and Sport Medicine at the Wingate Institute in Israel, and coordinator of the graduate program in Sport Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. From 1997-2001 he was the President of the International Society of Sport Psychology, and from1996-2008 he was the Editor of the International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Dr. Tenenbaum is published extensively in psychology and sport psychology in areas of expertise and decision-making, linking emotions-cognitions-motor systems, psychometrics, and coping with physical effort experiences. He has authored articles such as “Conceptual framework for studying emotions-cognitions-performance linkage under conditions which vary in perceived pressure” in Progress in Brain Research, and “Individual zone of optimal functioning (IZOF): A probabilistic conceptualization” in the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Dr. Tenenbaum also wrote and edited several books. Recently he edited the books Measurement in Sport and Exercise Psychology (With Eklund and Kamata) by Human Kinetics, Case Studies in Applied Psychophysiology: Neurofeedback and Biofeedback Treatments for Advances in Human Performance (with William A. Edmonds) by Oxford, Wiley-Blackwell, and the Handbook of Sport Psychology (3rdEdition) (with Eklund) by Wiley.
