Biography
Dr. Linenberger is the Robert & Phyllis Henigson Professor of Hematology and Medicine at the University of Washington and he is the medical director of apheresis and cellular therapy at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). Dr. Linenberger received his baccalaureate and medical degrees at the University of Kansas. After completing internal medicine training in Providence, Rhode Island at Brown University, Dr. Linenberger moved to Seattle in 1986 to join the Hematology Fellowship training program at UW. Since completing fellowship, Doctor Linenberger has remained at UW, performing basic and clinical research in hematology, teaching and participating in patient care. In 2011, Dr. Linenberger became the program director for the Hematology-Oncology fellowship program. He, therefore, spends a significant time working on fellow education and career development. Dr. Linenberger sits on numerous standards, applications, governance committees and working groups for national societies and organizations, including the American Society of Hematology, AABB (formerly American Association of Blood Banks) and the American Society for Apheresis. He is a fellow of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Research Interest
Dr. Linenberger's role as medical director of the Cellular Processing Facility at FHCRC involves him in experimental protocols that require special selection, manipulation and expansion of stem cells and immune cells. His research interests also include hematopoietic stem cell donor safety and therapeutic apheresis.
