Biography
As CEO for China & GE India Technology Centers, Munesh Makhija leads 8300 engineers and scientists across multi-disciplinary R&D labs and industry verticals including Power, Aviation, Transportation, Healthcare and Renewable. In his role as CTO for GE China and South Asia, Munesh is responsible to drive regional business outcomes through technology innovation solutions for the regional markets. Prior to his current role, Munesh was VP for Global Research at GE Healthcare, where he was responsible for global research collaborations with academic and government partners. Before that, he served as CTO for GE Healthcare India, focusing on sustainable healthcare products and solutions for India and emerging markets. Munesh joined GE Healthcare, Milwaukee WI in 2003 as an engineering director. Before joining GE, Munesh was in the telecommunications industry for 10 years and held several positions in technology and product leadership, software engineering, new product development, program management and product marketing. Munesh has served on the Board of Directors – Wisconsin Technology Council, USA and is on the National Leadership Council - GE Asian Pacific American Forum. He also serves on the AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce) Executive Committee - Karnataka, India and is a member of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council, Expert Group on Technology, & Karnataka State Council. He has been recognized with the Best National Healthcare Innovation Award by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry), Best Mobile Technology for Improving Patient Care Award by Consumer Health World USA and the Java One Emerging Technology Award for Healthcare. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from the University of Bombay, India, a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University, IN, USA, and an MBA from North Central College, IL, USA. He is GE Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
