Biography

Dr. Peter Paul Toth, MD, PhD, FAAFP, FICA, FAHA, FNLA, FCCP, FACC, is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University, is Chief of Medicine at the CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Dr. Toth serves on numerous editorial boards for lipidology, atherosclerosis and family care publications. He is an Associate Editor of the Section on Lipids, Lipoproteins, Atherosclerosis and Coronary Artery Disease in the Year Book of Endocrinology for Elsevier Publishing, Section Editor on Clinical trials and their Interpretations for Current Atherosclerosis Reports and Editorial Chair of the Primary Care Section on the Bio discussion and Bio critique web sites. He serves as a Member of Medical Advisory Board of Atherotech, Inc. He is in private practice at Sterling Rock Falls Clinic, a multi specialty clinician group in Sterling, Illinois, where he serves as Director of Preventive Cardiology. He has been a Member of Medical and Scientific Advisory Board at Gemphire Therapeutics Inc. since March 7, 2017. He is a Member of the American Academy of Family Clinicians, Illinois Academy of Family Clinicians, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Vascular Biology Working Group, National Lipid Association, The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. He serves as a Member of Betonmace Clinical Steering Committee at Resverlogix Corp. He is also a Member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Clinicians, American Heart Association and the American Society of Hypertension. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is also a reviewer for more than twenty peer reviewed journals, including Circulation, European Heart Journal, Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews and the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. He has authored or edited 9 text books in preventive cardiology, lipidology and hypertension and has 170 publications in journals and textbooks.
