David P. Meeker

Biography

Dr. David P. Meeker, M.D., served as an Executive Vice President and General Manager of Genzyme at Sanofi since November 2011 until July 6, 2017. Dr. Meeker served as the Chief Executive Officer of Genzyme Corporation from October 25, 2011 to June 30, 2017 and served as its President until June 30, 2017. Dr. Meeker had overseen and provided the vision for two business units – Rare Diseases and Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Meeker served as Chief Executive Officer of Genzyme Polyclonals S.A.S. since November 2011 and its Chief Operating Officer since 2009. He served as an Executive Vice President of Specialty Care at Sanofi since November 2011 until February 17, 2016. He served as the Chief Operating Officer at Genzyme Corporation from March 2009 to March 2010 and served as its Executive Vice President. He was responsible for Genzyme’s commercial organization, overseeing its business units¸ country management organization and global market access functions. As Chief Operating Officer, he played an important role in the integration with Sanofi. He served as Executive Vice President of Genetic Diseases Biosurgery & Corporate Operations at Genzyme Corporation from March 2009 to March 2010 and also served as its Executive Vice President of Therapeutics, Genetic Diseases Biosurgery & Transplant since May 2008. He served as the President of LSD (Lysosomal Storage Disorders Therapeutics), Business Unit of Genzyme Corporation since 2003. He served as Corporate Vice President of Genzyme Molecular Oncology Inc. He served as the President of Lysosomal Storage Disorders Business Unit at Genzyme Oncology, Inc. Dr. Meeker has served in various roles at Genzyme Corporation since 1994, including Senior Vice President of Therapeutics Europe from May 2000 to March 2003 and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs from June 1998 to May 2000. He joined Genzyme in 1994 as Medical Director to work on the Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Program. Prior to joining Genzyme in 1994, he served as a Director of the Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship of the Cleveland Clinical Foundation. He has been the Chairman of the Board at MOTUS THERAPEUTICS, INC. (formerly, Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ) since April 2017 and Trevi Therapeutics, Inc. since July 20, 2017. Dr. Meeker has been the Chairman of the Board of Rhythm Holding Company, LLC since November 2015 and as its Director since December 2015. He has been Director of Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since November 2015. He has been a Director of MOTUS THERAPEUTICS, INC. since April 2017 and previously served the same position December 16, 2015. He served as a Director of Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since January 7, 2013. He served as a Director of Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. from January 4, 2007 to September 20, 2010. He is a Board Member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization and of Prize4Life. He served an Assistant Professor of medicine at Ohio State University. He has authored more than 40 articles and multiple book chapters. He has been an Independent Director of MyoKardia, Inc. since April 18, 2017. He completed Clinical Fellowship in Medicine from Harvard Medical School, post- doctoral training in Pulmonary Medicine from Boston University and Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine from Boston University, an Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and a Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship at Boston University. He earned an MD from the University of Vermont Medical School. Dr. Meeker completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2000.
