Biography

Dr. Cheng joined Gilead Sciences in 1999 and was appointed to his current role of Executive Vice President, Clinical Research and Development Operations in January 2015. In this role, he is responsible for clinical development for the company’s development-stage programs in HIV/AIDS. He also oversees Gilead’s biometrics, clinical operations, clinical pharmacology, drug safety and public health, project management and regulatory affairs activities. Prior to joining Gilead, Dr. Cheng trained in internal medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Cheng is a member of the board of the Global Virus Network, based in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree and PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Columbia University.
