Biography
Dr. Huard is the Deputy Director of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine (MIRM) as well as the Cellular Therapeutic Pillar and an Associate Director of the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative (PTEI). His main research focus continues to expand the possibilities of tissue engineering by unlocking the potential of gene therapy and adult stem cell research and transferring research findings into the development of effective treatments for damaged or diseased tissues as they relate to the musculoskeletal system, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Dr. Huard is also an Associate Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, Bioengineering, and Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh; Director of the Stem Cell Research Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh; and is a co-founder of Cook MyoSite, Inc.
