Biography
As a University Professor and Director of the Medical Automation Research Center at the University of Virginia, Robin has been awarded over $30 million during the past 15 years to fund a research and development group that has produced over 180 publications, been granted numerous patents, and is recognized as a leading center in the areas of medical devices, laboratory automation, and biotechnology. In addition, he has notably bridged the gap between the academic research laboratory and the entrepreneurial community by receiving Small Business Technology Transfer grants to commercialize high-tech innovations. Since the late 1990s, Robin has fostered the technology transfer of a number of ventures from the University of Virginia. His affiliation with professional organizations includes the Council for High Blood Pressure Research, and the American Association for Clinical Biochemists. Dr. Felder has published over 260 research papers, been awarded eight patents, and has presented over 140 lectures in fifteen foreign countries. Dr. Felder received his B.S. in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary, a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Georgetown University, and a post doctorate at the National Institutes of Health.
