Biography
John Docherty is Senior Vice President, Global Operations, at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. In his role, John is responsible for the global alignment of operations in such areas as quality, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing technology, industrial engineering and program management. John oversees the global procurement, quality and corporate program management organizations. John has more than 35 years of global semiconductor manufacturing experience. Most recently, he was senior vice president of manufacturing operations at AMD where he led all global operations, including: foundry technology and operations management; assembly, test, mark and pack (ATMP) operations; supply chain, global supply management, and logistics. Previously, Docherty was senior vice president of operations for ATI Technologies, Inc., with overall responsibility for ASIC operations and supply chain management. Before joining ATI, Docherty was vice president of front-end operations for Agere Systems where he oversaw external sourcing, internal production, and joint venture operations for procuring integrated circuits. Previously, Docherty was senior vice president of manufacturing operations for Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing where he was also chairman of the Silicon Manufacturing Partner joint venture with Agere. Docherty began his career with Motorola where he spent 19 years in various operations management positions. John was a founder of the Scottish Electronics Forum and served as its inaugural chairman. He holds a business administration degree from the University of Strathclyde and a certificate in engineering from Napier University.
