John R. Bucher

Biography

John Bucher joined GLOBALFOUNDRIES in early 2014 as Senior Vice President, Strategy. In this role, Bucher is responsible for corporate strategy, market research and competitive analysis. Bucher previously served as executive vice president of Punta Mita Partners, a strategy consulting firm focused on the semiconductor and other high-tech sectors. Previous to this, Bucher was the Chief Strategy Officer of Motorola Mobility (MMI), where he was responsible for strategic planning, corporate development, M&A and MMI Ventures. Prior to Motorola, Bucher spent more than a decade on Wall Street as a technology sector equity research analyst on the sell side with BMO Capital Markets and more recently on the buy side with PRIMECAP Management Company. Prior to his Wall Street career, Bucher worked in product management, marketing and network operations with Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile and PrimeCo, each of which is now part of Verizon Wireless. Bucher began his professional career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he served on active duty for more than 10 years. Bucher holds a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA.
