Biography

Tommy Gray grew up in Cedartown, GA and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Economics. He then went to work for Gold Kist, Inc.’s Agri-Services Division in 1985. Tommy began his career with the Georgia Department of Agriculture in March of 1989 as Pesticide Field Agent. He subsequently moved into management and oversaw the Pesticide Division’s Licensing and Enforcement Programs from 1991 to 2012. In June of 2013, Tommy was named Director of Plant Industry. In this position he oversees the Agricultural Inputs Section, Plant Protection Section and Structural Pest Section. Tommy is active in several regional and national associations and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Southern Association of Feed, Fertilizer and Pesticide Control Officials. Tommy has two children. His daughter, Mary Paige, is currently enrolled at the University of Georgia and his son, Harris, is a student at Columbus State University. They enjoy traveling, camping and anything outdoors. Tommy is a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown where he served on the Deacon Board and as chairman.
