Biography

Attorney at Law Jessica Stokes Benson became an associate with Goldfinch Winslow, LLC of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina in 2015. Jessica grew up in Florence, South Carolina. She has comfortably settled with her family in beautiful Murrells Inlet, SC. Attorney Benson graduated summa cum laude from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor of Science in 2003. She was a Witherspoon Scholar in Political Science, a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society and Sigma Kappa Alpha Academic Honor Society, earning the Outstanding Senior Award in her major. Following her graduation, Jessica attended University of South Carolina School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2006. She has applied her skills to help various professionals in the area and her practice focuses on employment law and general litigation. Since 2006, Jessica worked diligently as an attorney and has presented numerous arguments in both State and Federal Courts. From 2010 to 2014 she was owner of The Stokes Law Firm, LLC, in Pawleys Island. Attorney Benson built, maintained, and managed the law practice with a focus in employment law, contract drafting, real estate law, landlord/tenant law, foreclosures, non-profit law, and family law. She left the practice to raise her family but felt compelled to return to the practice of law just a year later. Some of Attorney Benson’s most notable legal successes include successful settlements of wage-hour disputes, obtaining a summary judgment ruling for a non-profit organization dismissing a case, assisting employers in protecting and preserving trade secrets and confidential information, and assisting employees in obtaining state and federal wages owed. Attorney Benson enjoys applying her legal knowledge to charitable organizations and has personally represented various non-profits. Jessica even served as the Governance Chair of Miss Ruby’s Kids, a caring non-profit organization in Georgetown, South Carolina. When she is not directly helping others or practicing law, Mrs. Benson enjoys the friendly community and scenery of Murrells Inlet. Her hobbies include reading and spending time on the water. Jessica’s husband, Robert P. Benson, is an outside salesman at Ferguson Waterworks. Whenever the Bensons are not chasing their three adorable children – Charlotte, and twins Tinsley and Porter – they really enjoy dining out on the Inlet and spending time with friends and family.
