Gresham, Smith and Partners announces that Catherine C. Morrison, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, has joined the firm as an architect in the Charlotte office. Morrison brings more than 10 years of architecture, master planning and urban design experience. Her experience includes land use planning, utilization analysis, renovation and expansion projects as well as new construction and medical office buildings. Her strong background in both design and planning will strengthen GS&P’s critical work to provide value-added design to clients and advance the growing healthcare market in Charlotte.  “Charlotte is experiencing incredible growth. As a result of this growth and evolution, health systems and providers are seeking ways to provide the services and facilities to best serve the communities,” commented David L. King, AIA, NCARB, division vice president, Gresham, Smith and Partners. “Cathy is the planning and design leader we need to continue providing the Charlotte market with design that improves community health. Cathy is a recognized leader and we know she will be an exceptional asset to our team and clients. Morrison is an active member of the community, honored in Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 under 40. She has served on the Board of Directors for AIA Charlotte, AIA North Carolina and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. She is also passionate about cities and has collaborated with the Arts and Science Council, is a graduate of the Community Building Initiative’s Leadership Development Initiative and was a member of the Knight Foundation’s Creative Communities Initiative. Morrison’s design ethos is informed by her passion for creative communities and she believes that all things can be more than the intended use when designed well.  “From planning to design through construction administration, our work is creative and vital. We have the opportunity to create places and spaces that are elevated beyond simply function, ” added Morrison. “I believe that is critical in healthcare environments, which should be positive healing environments that inspire quality care. I am excited to join a team that is focused on providing value through design, as GS&P has an incredible opportunity to shape the region’s healthcare and continually improve upon the services we offer to our clients
