Derrick Murphy

Biography

Derrick is a project and client service manager in GS&P’s Water Resources market. He has first-hand experience managing capital, operations and maintenance for water plants and systems, leading external stakeholder communications, and establishing productive relationships with federal, state and local agencies and municipalities. Before coming to GS&P, he spent 13 years with the Birmingham Water Works Board working on public-sector management, design and analysis of the entire range of water issues from intake to filtration to distribution.   Derrick holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Construction Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition, Derrick has a Water Grade I operator certification in the State of Alabama. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Water Works Association. Outside of work, Derrick has served his community in various roles, such as the president of the City of Hoover Board of Education and as a member of the City of Hoover Board of Zoning Adjustment.
