Biography
James serves the firm as Chairman Emeritus and Executive Vice President of Healthcare. His more than 40 year career with GS&P started as an intern architect and has included various design and leadership roles, including 14 years as CEO. James has been instrumental in the firm’s growth, successfully focusing on continued improvement of core design competencies while diversifying services to meet the changing demands of the market. Understanding the implications design has on business, employees, clients and end-users, he has enhanced GS&P’s commitment to developing solutions that demonstrate social, economic and environmental stewardship. James is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), active within the AIA Large Firm Roundtable, a member of the Nashville Healthcare Council and a founding board member of Architecture, Construction, Engineering (ACE) Mentoring Program. He has been recognized as an Outstanding Volunteer by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, has served on the United Way Board of Trustees, the American Heart Association Executive Leadership Team and the Advisory Board for the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee, his alma mater.
